This document contains information on the following topics: 1.0 Overview 2.0 DFE-650 Fast Ethernet PC Card Installation Notes 2.1 Method 1 2.2 Method 2 ___________________________________________________________________ 1.0 Overview -------------- The ODI driver program allows you to run multiple protocol stacks and install DFE-650 Fast Ethernet PC Card in a workstation. This ODI driver supports the Port, Node Address, Protocol and Frame options for creating your own NET.CFG file. For more information on these keywords, please refer to Novell's "NetWare ODI shell for DOS - NET.CFG options". Please also refer to the INST_DOS.TXT file on the DFE-650 Fast Ethernet PC Card Installation disk. The NOVELL installation diskettes or CD ROM are necessary for the DFE-650 Fast Ethernet PC Card installation. 2.0 DFE-650 Fast Ethernet PC Card Installation Notes 2.1 Method 1 1. After installing the Novell installation CD ROM, run INSTALL.BAT. For example: From the File Manager, click on your CD Drive letter and then double-click INSTALL.BAT. 2. Click Client Installation to select the type of installation from the desired window. 3. Click NetWare DOS/WINDOWS Client (VLM) in Select Client To Be Installed window. 4. specify your target directory, installation default path is C:\NWCLIENT. (suggestion: DO NOT CHANGE THIS DIRECTORY) 5. Allow system to modified your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS. 6. Specify YES to install support for MS Windows, if you accept. 7. Move the highlight bar to Select the driver for your network board and press . 8. Put the released diskette into floppy disk and go to bottom Select "OTHER DRIVERS" under Network Board. 9. Please insert release driver diskette into floppy disk. 10. Specify the full path of ODI for DOS driver, A:\. Example: A:\NETWARE\CLIENT\ODI.DOS 11. Select "D-Link DFE-650 Fast Ethernet PC Card" for PC Card. 12. Specify "Base I/O Port", "Hardware Interrupt", and "Media Frame Type(s)", then press "F10" to save/continue. 13. Move to "Highlight here and press to install". 14. After the configuration process is completed, press Enter, then the installation program starts to copy necessary file to your hard disk. 15. Restart your system and connect your computer to the NetWare server. 2.2 Method 2 1. Assuming that you have installed NetWare Client for DOS system, do the following: 2. Copy \DFE650.COM file from released diskette into the Netware client directory containing LSL.COM, IPXODI.COM, NETx.COM or VLM.COM, VLM files. Ex.>COPY A:\NETWARE\CLIENT\ODI.DOS\DFE650.COM C:\NWCLIENT 3.
